Share and Print a project from its detail page

← All articles Email RSS Atom

Found a project worth sending to a friend or keeping as a paper or PDF copy? On every JM Tech Power project detail page the Links sidebar now has Share and Print next to Copy link. They match the article-page controls in spirit, but live on project pages under the jr-share and jr-print classes.

How to use them

  • Open any public project. Browse from https://jmtechpower.com/projects and open a project detail page.
  • Look in the Links sidebar. Under the Links heading you will see Copy link, then Share, then Print on the same row.
  • Tap Share. When your browser supports navigator.share, the Share button appears (it starts hidden and only shows after a small script confirms the API). It opens the system share sheet with the project name and absolute URL.
  • Tap Print. Print is always visible. It calls window.print() so your browser's normal print dialog opens — choose a printer or Save as PDF.

What you will notice

  • Progressive Share. Browsers without Web Share keep .jr-share hidden, so guests never see a control that cannot work. Copy link remains available for the same URL.
  • Same URL as Copy link. Share carries the project's absolute detail URL via data-url, matching what Copy link copies.
  • Print stays clean. The print stylesheet hides .jr-share and .jr-print along with other chrome, so paper copies do not show those buttons.
  • Cancel is fine. If you dismiss the system share sheet (AbortError), the page ignores that abort and does not show an error. Other share failures surface a short status message.

Good to know

  • Chinese labels too. With the Chinese locale the buttons read 分享 and 打印; screen readers hear 分享此项目 and 打印此项目.
  • No account required. Guests and signed-in readers see the same Share and Print controls on every public project detail page.
  • Real buttons. Both controls are <button> elements with accessible names ("Share this project" / "Print this project"), not plain links.
  • Not the article Share/Print guides. Article detail uses ja-share and ja-print; this tip is about jr-share and jr-print on project pages.
