When a Projects search finds nothing, try all projects or the whole site

← All articles Email RSS Atom

The Projects page at https://jmtechpower.com/projects lets you search by words and narrow by category. When that combination finds nothing, the empty state used to leave you with "No projects match your search." and a link to browse all projects. It now also offers a couple of next steps when you typed search words.

What you will see

If the list is empty because of a search or a category, you still see "No projects match your search." and browse all projects (back to the full list). When there are search words, a short list of next steps appears underneath:

  • Search all projects for your words — only when a category narrowed the query. It keeps your words and the sort you picked, and drops the category, so you can check whether the project lives in a different category.
  • Search the whole site for your words — opens site search at https://jmtechpower.com/search with the same words, so you can look across apps, articles and people without retyping.

Good to know

  • Only when you typed words. A category with no search box text still shows the old message and "browse all projects" — no site-search link, because there is nothing to carry over.
  • Your words are shown safely. Whatever you typed is escaped as plain text in the link labels, never as part of the page.
  • The next-step links show a clear focus outline for keyboard users.
  • In Chinese the links read 在所有项目中搜索“…” and 在全站搜索“…”.
  • The Articles page works the same way — see https://jmtechpower.com/articles. Site-wide search has its own empty-state tips on https://jmtechpower.com/search.
