When a search returns a long list, it is not always obvious why each result is there. Now the words you searched for are highlighted in every result, with a soft green background.
Where it works
- Articles at https://jmtechpower.com/articles — in each article's title and summary. Try https://jmtechpower.com/articles?search=updates.
- Projects at https://jmtechpower.com/projects — in each project's name and short description.
- Updates at https://jmtechpower.com/updates — in each change's title and text.
- Roadmap at https://jmtechpower.com/roadmap — in each item's title and description.
How it behaves
- Capital letters do not matter. Search for
gardenand both "Garden" and "garden" are highlighted. - Every match is marked, not just the first one.
- No search, no highlight. Browsing a list normally looks exactly as before.
- Not every result has a highlight. A result can match on something that is not shown in the list — the full text of an article, an article's tags, or the end of a long project description that is cut short — so it appears in the results with nothing marked.
- Highlighting works the same in English and Chinese, since it marks whatever you typed.
Safe by design
Whatever you type is treated as plain text: the page only ever adds the highlight around it, so a search can never change how the page looks or behaves.
