When you pick files on Create project or Draft a new release, a short list under the pickers shows what each file will become. If the site cannot take a file, its line says Not accepted — and the button at the bottom of the form now waits until that is sorted out.
What you see
A line such as notes.txt — Not accepted · Main installer
must be an installer or archive, and above the list:
Remove or replace the files marked Not accepted to continue.
The Create project or Publish release button is switched off while that message is showing.
Why it waits
Without this, pressing the button would upload every file first and only then be refused — and after a refused form your browser empties the file pickers, so you would have to pick everything again. Waiting saves you that round trip.
How to fix it
- Main installer box: it takes installers and archives
only — for example
.exe,.msi,.dmg,.deb,.AppImage,.zipor.tar.gz. A file there that is not one says Main installer must be an installer or archive. Pick the installer instead, or move the file to Additional files if it belongs there. - Additional files: these take more kinds of file —
checksums, signatures, text notes and more — but not web pages or scripts
such as
.htmlor.php. Those say This file type cannot be uploaded. Pick your files again without it.
As soon as no file is marked Not accepted, the message disappears and the button works again.
When the button is not held
- While the list says Checking… — it is only held once the site has answered.
- If the list says preview unavailable, or does not appear at all, the button stays on. The site still checks every file when you press it and tells you if one cannot be accepted.
The other reason it can wait
The button also waits if the files you picked are bigger than your free storage. The two checks are separate: fixing one does not switch the button back on while the other still applies.
