Check your free storage before you upload a project or a release

← All articles Email RSS Atom

Every JM Tech Power account has a storage allowance for the files you upload — 100 MB for a new account. Big installers add up quickly, so the two forms you upload software with now tell you how much room is left before you send anything.

Where you see it

Open Create project, or Draft a new release on one of your projects. Under the file pickers (Installer file and Additional files on Create project; Main installer and Additional files on the release form) there is a line like this:

You have 87.5 MB of storage left for files.

That is your free space right now, worked out when the page opens.

When your files don't fit

As soon as you pick files, the form adds up everything you picked — the main installer and every additional file together — and compares it with your free space. If it is too much:

  • a warning appears: The files you picked are larger than your free storage. Choose fewer or smaller files.
  • the Create project or Publish release button is switched off, so you don't wait through a long upload that would only be refused.

Pick fewer or smaller files and the warning goes away and the button comes back on its own — nothing to reload.

The check in the form is a convenience. The website still checks your storage when the files arrive, so a project or release is never saved half-way: if anything is refused, nothing is kept.

  • Your profile page shows Used, Total and Available, with a warning when you are running low.
  • JM Drive shows how much is free at the top of the page.

Make room

  • Delete files you no longer need in JM Drive.
  • Delete a project you no longer need from My projects — its files are removed with it. This cannot be undone, so keep a copy of anything you still want.
  • Instead of uploading a very large build, you can link to it: the release form's …or external download URL field takes a link to a file hosted elsewhere and uses none of your storage.
